Kids’ Gardening

Landscaped garden, patio and front yard increase the aesthetic quotient of a house and make it look welcome. Gardening is not only ornamental but also an optional entertaining engagement for children.

If you prefer gardening as a type of entertaining activity for kids, then here are some tips:

Children like to eat stuff freshly picked from the garden. It might be convenient to have the patch close to the kitchen, so that you can keep a watch on your kids while they harvest. That is why we select plants that grow quickly and in containers. Lettuce, radishes and cress take only 6-8 weeks to grow. Onion, tomato, cabbage, cucumber and dwarf beans require 8-12 weeks to mature. Following closely are other vegetables like potatoes and carrots which attain maturity in 16-20 weeks. You can harvest this tiny patch for months.

Push your kids to take care of their tiny patch. Be creative when initiating your kids to this alternative method of whiling away time and seeking enjoyment simultaneously. This is a very nice way for children to learn practical skills and feel the magic of the natural world.
