  • Search for rust on the undersides of foliage and what you find is an orange color rust that has velvet appearance.
  • Firstly, remove the infected leaves and discard them immediately.
  • Rake up the leaves and debris and destroy the fallen leaves. Do not compost as it can spread the disease further.
  • You must avoid overhead irrigation as rust spores can be carried back to the plant with the splash of water. To avoid splashing of water, apply water at the base of the plant.
  • You need to protect the plants from heavy rainfall and high levels of humidity. Place plants that are susceptible for infections under eaves or overhangs to prevent the foliages from getting wet.
  • Water the plants in the early hours as this gives the plant to dry during the day time.
