Steps Required For Pruning the Lavender Plants:

Some of the steps which are required for pruning the lavender plants are:

  • The pruning of the lavender is done twice in a year. When the plants are young all you require to do is to remove the dead and faded flowers in the morning. This is done with hands only and very gently too. The pruning which is done in the late summers is done to shape up the plant to mound it up.
  • The second pruning is done in the spring where cuts are made at different locations. These cuts will help in encouraging the new growth of the leaves and the stems in the plants.
  • Thus, the pruning done in the summer months will help in giving the plant a distinct shape while the pruning in spring will encourage new growth in them.
  • Pruning must not be done in the old wood as it will not help in the new growth of the plants.
