Indoor herb gardening can be an enjoyable and efficient way to ensure a supply of herbs in your home. But most of us do not have the time or energy to set up an indoor garden. Buying the right plants and pots, finding the right soil, mixing it, planting the seeds, adding the right fertilizers–all this takes much effort. But there is a faster way to grow an indoor herb garden- Herb Garden Kits.

An Herb Garden Kit contains everything needed to grow a perfect indoor garden. These kits come in a variety of themes and constituents. Basic kits contain seeds of a few herbs and some basic shaped containers. Advanced kits could contain seeds of a number of herbs. They also include fancy containers, which will make your house attractive. Some kits are so advanced that you don’t even need to plant the seeds. The seeds come planted. You just need to water the container.

A basic kit contains the following

  1. Herb seeds: – Good quality seeds are provided in the kits. More seeds are given than necessary, so that you can experiment.
  2. Dirt pellets: – Just pour water and the pellets expand to form soil and container, held together by thin netting. They can then be placed in larger containers. The soil is ideal for growing herbs.
  3. Greenhouse dome: – The pellets are to be placed in a greenhouse dome on a garden tray. This way, the herbs get a suitable environment to grow.
  4. Information pack: – It contains instructions to help you grow and maintain your garden.

Some kits also have nutritional tablets, as required.

Kits can be chosen depending on the type of herbs you want to grow. Kits come with Culinary herb seeds, Medicinal herb seeds, Decorative herb seeds etc. Other categories include Italian herbs, French herbs etc.

You may need to buy artificial lights if the herbs cannot get enough sunlight.

Indoor herb garden kits can cost about $10 for a basic kit and upto $300 and more for advanced kits.
