Bio Dynamic Gardening and Organic Gardening are quite closely related. The fertilizers used in organic gardening and bio dynamic gardening are quite similar.

Bio-Dynamic gardening is basically gardening with the moon. It’s all about growing your plants according to the movements of the moon. This is why it is important to simulate your garden before starting off. Different bio-dynamic preparations are available in the garden. Different preparations serve different purposes.

Biodynamic preparation or BD preparations are usually available in concentrated form. These need to be diluted with a specified amount of water and then used on the soil.

BD500- This is used for to improve the soil fertility. The preparation is available in concentrated form. For one acre of land, 25 grams of BD500 is used. This is diluted with 13 liters of water and sprinkled around on the soil, usually using a broom. This preparation is made of cow dung and cow horn sometimes.

BD501- This preparation is made from quartz crystals. To use this preparation on one acre of land, one gram of the BD501 is diluted in 13.5 liters of water and is used as a foliar spray. This preparation is mainly for plant protection. This preparation regulates and stimulates growth of the plant. The spraying of this preparation is done in the early hours, just before the sun rises.

BD502-507- These preparations are used according to the product expected from the plant- Root, Leaf, Fruit or Flower. These are mixed in a compost pit and used in the soil as manure for the plants. They improve the quality of the soil when they are mixed in a normal compost pit and added to the soil. BD502-508 are each made of different materials like oak bark, yarrow blossoms, dandelion flowers, chamomile blossoms, etc.

BD508- this preparation is used to keep the plants away from fungal diseases. This is again diluted in water and used as a foliar spray.
