Ant Trouble- Some Solutions

Posted on September 9, 2008 in latest news

Ants are known to be trouble-makers when in a garden or a kitchen. Getting rid of them could be quite a challenge. Trying the following remedies could make the challenge easier than it was.

Driving ants away
Ants repel to spicy flavors. Giving them a taste of pepper, cloves or any hot spice could drive them out of your sight.

Insects in general do not seem to like egg shells around the place they’ve captured. Placing some broken egg shells in the place they are in can repel them.
Using sticky pads, which are usually used for rats, also can solve the ant problem. Place these in the place you’ve seen them crawl regularly.
Mint is believed to drive away ants as the flavor of the leaf is too strong for them. Place some fresh mint near their territory. This might not be as effective as the above mentioned remedies.

Keeping ants away
Having some mint plants in your garden will add to your herb collection and also keep those biting insects away.
Using fewer chemicals may also solve the problem.
Keep garbage or sweet stuff away from your garden. Also, if you want to avoid ants, its good to avoid nectar-giving flower plants.
If you particularly have a problem with only ants and not other insects, have termites in your garden, they’ll eat the ants up!
