With the increasing shortage of space people are now inclined towards rooftop gardens. Rooftop gardens are planned cultivation on the roof of any building. Rooftop gardening is done in two ways either by the use of containers or pots for plantation or by using the entire roof as plantation ground. They are not only the best alternatives for shortage of space but have a lot of benefits also.

• Rooftop gardens enhance the beauty of the building.
• Rooftop gardens provide additional insulation to the building as plants reflect the heat and the light. Hence they act as energy conserver.
• Another advantage is that they absorb the rain water hence reducing the runoff water.
• They help in reduction of air pollution by absorbing carbon dioxide.
• They even act as small bio-reserve for small insects and animals which otherwise are restricted to their natural habitats in the cities.
• They tend to increase the roof life.
